Words from the new ISE Chairperson – Margaret Wierman
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is my great honor and privilege to become the new Chair of the International Society of Endocrinology as of this October following the tenure of Andre Lacroix, Chairperson of ISE from 2016 to 2020. In the past years as a member of the ISE Executive Committee and this year as Chair-elect, I have had the chance to work closely with the senior leadership team of the society. I benefited greatly from the insights and the communication with them through these challenging times. I have expanded my understanding of the global endocrine community having the chance to meet, talk and share, live and virtually, with so many of you. ISE is a “United nations of Endocrinology” and this federation ties us together with our common belief in the mission to advance endocrine science, education and cooperation among the global endocrine community.
In the next two years of my term as Chair, I am dedicated to work with you to support ISE’s mission with a revision of a strategic plan to lead us forward to the future while continuing to advance ongoing activities. Our collaborative efforts include online education, global outreach and capacity building, increased involvement of members in ISE activities and increased participation in global health advocacy. The current times have been very challenging to all of us as professionals and individuals but has only reinforced the importance and the need for a global connection, increasing our networks and being part of a community. Therefore, the mission of ISE remains vital, vibrant and integral- ISE is here to stay and together we will work to achieve our goals.
Lastly, I would personally like to invite you to the ICE Virtual Congress that will be held on 24-28th February 2021. Thanks to the superb work of the Program Organizing Committee and our FASEN and FELEAN hosts, you will enjoy an outstanding scientific program with presentations provided by leaders and experts from around the world. You will enjoy a user-friendly virtual environment that will provide you the opportunity to collaborate across a variety of disciplines and specialties, interact with the speakers, meet industry colleagues, and network with fellow international colleagues from the comfort of your home or workplace. It is a fantastic scientific program. Learn more about the program, abstract submission and registration at https://icevirtualcongress.com/ .
I look forward to meeting you virtually in February and hopefully, face to face in the near future!
With very best wishes,
Margaret E. Wierman, MD (Maggie)
