Member Profile : Germany : Deutsche Gesellschaft für Endokrinologie
Egyptian Endocrine Society The German Society of Endocrinology was established in 1964, it is one of Europe's largest continuously growing societies of endocrinology with currently 1225 ordinary and associated members.

The main goal of the Society is to promote research and clinical practice in endocrinology and to foster the scientific exchange of ideas and concepts between the different disciplines of endocrinology.

One of the major advantages of the DGE is the diversity of its members, since everyone engaged in endocrine research and practice can apply for membership. The disciplines represented include, for example, biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, veterinary medicine, internal medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology and surgery. DGE- members are employed in highranking scientific institutes, in university hospitals, in industry or in private practice.

The Society´s annual meetings are attended by approximately 1200 participants with a steadily increasing number. Meetings have a broad and international character. Furthermore, the DGE is linked with numerous other European societies through joint symposia, grant applications and scientific exchange.

The DGE is run by a board, whose members represent the different disciplines and ideas. Through strong and continuously increasing international cooperation, the German Society of Endocrinology aims to expand the role of endocrine research and practice on both a national and international level.
