EDS Mission is to enhance the welfare of individuals who have diabetes.
The Emirates Diabetes Society is the primary medical society in the United Arab Emirates and its primary objective is to increase public awareness and encourage health improvement, promote the exchange of high-quality information about diabetes, and provide education for people with diabetes and their healthcare providers. The society conducts a number of educational programs, which includes scientific as well as educational programs targeted towards Diabetes Educators.
The Emirates Diabetes Society has, over the years, kept alive the awareness and educational campaigns among patients, public, and healthcare providers through various activities which include:
- Scientific education for the medical fraternity–this has been achieved through conferences, trainings and workshops organized as well as certification of educators
- Community outreach and education – public education / communal teaching through media; physical activities/events organized through communities. Education provided/given/delivered to individuals and institutions. Publication of information for dissemination/distribution to the general public both in Arabic and English.
ISE looks forward to establishing a long-term and successful collaboration with its new member society and to explore opportunities together to enhance the awareness about Diabetes.
