Margaret E. Wierman – the new Chair-Elect of ISE
Every two years there is an election within the Executive Committee of ISE to chose the Chair of ISE for the next two years.
The current Chair of ISE, Prof. Andre Lacroix, will be on the position until October 2020. Dedicated and passionate to bring the diverse groups part of ISE together and working towards a common mission, he will lead the Society for another year full of many new and exciting upcoming projects.
But who will continue building the legacy of ISE and moving forward the Strategic Plan of the Society after him?
We are happy to announce that the role of Chair-Elect for 2019-2020 beginning October 1 and Chair of ISE for the term 2020-2022 will be Margaret E. Wierman.
Meet Margaret E. Wierman
Margaret E. Wierman is Professor in Medicine, Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Chief of Endocrinology at the Rocky Mountain Regional Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Maggie is a member of the Endocrine Society as well and has previously served in many leadership positions in its various committees and task forces including Council and Vice President Clinical Scientist.
In ISE, she is a valuable member of the Education Working Group and has been part of the faculty in Endocrine Congresses in Katmandu, Cape Town and Sri Lanka. She shares that participating in all those different educational activities in the past year has widened her appreciation of the integral role if ISE to expand education and as Chair from 2020 she will be dedicated to continue growing further this very important strategic focus for the Society.
Future responsibilities as Chair-Elect
Margaret will step into the position of Chair of ISE effective as of October 2020. Until then she will be active part in the leadership team meetings so that a smooth transition into her new role is ensured.
As the new Chair-Elect of ISE Margaret expressed her devotion to working along with the Executive Committee and ISE Members and Partners from all around the globe to ensure the achievement of common goals and advance the consensus-based Strategic Plan of the Society.
