Half of the world’s population will go through menopause at some point in their lives! Hormonal milieu, lifestyle and body shape change significantly during the menopausal transition and lead to an increased risk of cardiometabolic complications. It is important to understand these changes and how we can advise perimenopausal and postmenopausal women on lifestyle or treatment they should consider to reduce these risks.

Speakers:

Panagiotis Anagnostis, Unit of Reproductive Endocrinology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece

Topic: Changes in body composition and cardiometabolic risk factors during the menopausal transition

Samar R El Khoudary, Professor and Vice Chair for Education, Epidemiology, Epidemiology Data Center, University of Pittsburgh

Topic: Menopause and Cardiovascular Risk: Unraveling the Link and Exploring Opportunities for Early Intervention

Moderators: Jean-Patrice Baillargeon (Université de Sherbrooke) & Matthew Nudy (Penn State Hershey Medical Center)

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Review the changes in body composition and cardiometabolic risk factors that occur during and after the menopausal transition
  2. Describe the influence of lifestyle, menopausal symptoms and individual characteristics that modulate these cardiometabolic risks
  3. Discuss lifestyle and clinical approaches that have been shown to reduce these risks
